1. What was the Truman Doctrine and what was the cause of its creation?
The Truman Doctrine was designed to enforce the policy of the containment doctrine written by Kennan. Preisdent Truman wanted to stop the spread of communism so he set of the Truman Doctrine to send money to Greece and Turkey. The reason they did this was so that the two countries could resist communism with that money and become allies to the United States.
2. What were the series of events that brought about the Cold War?
The beginning of the Cold War started at the Yalta Conference wehre the Big Three (Churchill, FDR, and Stallin) met in order to discuss what was going to happen after the World War. At this meeting, Stalin makes the promise of giving free elections to the nations under its control such as Poland. Since he did not keep his promise, this brought about distrust between America and the U.S.S.R. Also, because of the difference in diplomacy, the two nations were unable to work with each other.
3. How did each side in the Cold War perceive the goals of the other side, and were these perceptions justified?
To the U.S.S.R., they did not want to set up another front war since they have already been through that twice, they set up a buffer zone with the satellite nations. America on the other hand sees this as a lie and tries to intervene by sending money to coutnries that were struggling to fight against the pressures of turning communism.

However, when the United Nations was created, the rules of regulating nuclear wepaons were not made, so the nations were free to create whatever they wanted.
