Post WWII Questions
1) What economic changes occurred post WWII?
At this time, the labor unions wanted to keep control so they passed the Taft-Harley Act which banned closed shops from those who did not join the unions. Also, people started to move out of the city apartments and into new home suburbs. A popular place to live in was sunbelt which was from the state of Florida all the way to California. Homes were cheap in the suburbs so it was easy for new families from the baby boom to start their life. In a meeting in Bretton Woods, the International Monetary Funds was created in order to keep the balance in exchange rates and create the World bank.
2) What social changes occurred post WWII?
Some social changes that occured post WWII is the G.I. Bill which allowed free education to soldiers. Another Bill that went along with this also gave soldiers cheap home loan that still exists today. Women were also given many rights during this time and most of them were now able to get a job that usually men would have. They proved to be able to handle these jobs because of the war but the traditional home mom clashed with these new ideas. This will be important for the future feminists movement.
